Romans 10: 14-17: We are the messengers sent to spread the Good News.

Updated: Feb 20, 2023

Thank you for joining today as we seek God’s wisdom together. Let us begin with prayer.

“Lord Jesus, I ask that you take the words in this blog and breathe life into them. Apart from your anointing they are just words on a page. I ask that you quicken our hearts to hear, see, and act upon what you are trying to teach us by the Power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.”

Today we will continue with the theme of Confessing Jesus as Lord. This time we will look at our responsibility as believers to spread the message He has given us.

Romans 10: 14-17 (NLT).

“But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? 15And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of the messengers who bring the Good News!” 16But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.”

Despite not understanding what I was confessing to, I was led to Christ by the sermon I heard from the Pastor that day at church when I gave my life to Jesus. He preached the Good News or Gospel to us and then asked for people to come forward to ask Jesus to be the Lord of their lives. I responded and God gave me the grace to make Him the Lord of my life. So, it is for everyone that comes to know Jesus as Lord. In Acts 9: 1-18 the Apostle Paul himself on the road to Damascus was confronted by Jesus by voice and told to go to Damascus and wait to be told what to do. Ananias (a believer in Jesus) in a vision was told to go find Paul and lay hands on Him so that he might regain his sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit. This was no small undertaking for Ananias for Paul had been persecuting and killing believers in Jesus. But by faith He obeyed, and Paul found faith in Jesus as a result.

Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Father all work in unison to bring His chosen into the kingdom and faith in Him. How he does it happens in seemingly an infinite number of ways. He knows each one of us intimately. The bible says He knows the number of hairs on our head “And the very hairs on your head are numbered (Luke 12:7).” Therefore, He who knows us so well that He knows how to use the circumstances in our lives to bring us to Him. As he said in a parable when one sheep is lost, He leaves the remaining ninety-nine to find us (Luke 15: 3-7). What then must we do? Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave the disciples a mission. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1: 8).” We must take up that mantle and be His voice to the lost.

Jesus entrusted us with a mission. You may say but look at me I am weak, I am small, I don’t speak well in public, I did too many horrible things wrong, etc.… Nevertheless, He left us this mission to fulfill. We must do it. But the mission is not done in our strength. Rather, He sent us His Holy Spirit to live inside us and lead us into all truth. We were infused with the same Power that rose Jesus from the dead. We are weak, but indeed He is strong. We are the road sign pointing the lost to Him. We cannot fail because He is the one doing the work for us and through us. There is an old saying that goes “You can lead a horse to water but, you cannot make him drink.” True words, in the case of unbelievers we lead them to Christ, show them the way that leads to forgiveness and eternal life with Him. We cannot make them take the free gift. God will draw them, and they will have to make the decision on their own.

If you feel the Lord is drawing you to make a decision about Him today. I encourage you to answer it. He will literally change your life. Pray this prayer right now where you are. Say it aloud: “Jesus I confess that you are the Lord of all. I believe you came to this earth, died on the cross, were buried in the tomb, and on the third day rose again from the dead. I confess to you that I am sinner and ask you to forgive me. Put me feet on the path you have laid out for me, and I will follow you.” If you prayed that prayer, I encourage you to contact us. We would love to stand beside you and hold you up in your journey. Likewise, I encourage you to seek out a church to attend. Maybe there is someone God has put on your mind right now to contact who is a Christian. They will get you to a church in which you can become part of the community of believers in Jesus. Trust me when I say we all are excited and humbled to be able to walk with you in your next steps with Him.

Thank you for joining me today as we explored God’s word together. I consider it a privilege to study it with you and provide a little insight into What the Word is Saying today!
