Thank you for joining today as we seek God’s wisdom together. Let us begin with prayer.
“Lord Jesus, I ask that you take the words in this blog and breathe life into them. Apart from your anointing they are just words on a page. I ask that you quicken our hearts to hear, see, and act upon what you are trying to teach us by the Power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen.”
As always, we start with the word of God. Today we will be looking at Romans 8: 28-39:
Romans 8:38-39 (NASB).
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, not things to come, nor powers, 39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
What the Word is Saying
I know that I am returning to a section of scripture that I just went over a few days ago. But I really feel like the Holy Spirit is asking me to address it again from a different angle. Of course, this makes sense because the verses alone list many different things that attempt to separate us from the Love of God. Just like Paul however, I am convinced that nothing can separate us from the Love of God in Christ Jesus.
Paul takes everything and lists them saying they cannot separate us from the Love of God. Be it height or anything above us in the heavens or beyond. Nothing exists up there can separate us from God’s Love. Be it depth or anything under the earth or sea can sperate us from the Love of God. Death, life, angels, Principalities (demons or false doctrines), nothing happening now or in the future, or any power of any sort can separate us from Gods love. While this is in fact very comforting especially with some of those who are focused on preventing the devil and his minions from thwarting God’s plans (He does not need our help to do this, we need only pray that His will be done). I would like to focus on our own obstacles.
We are sinners saved by grace. We have been forgiven and set free from the chains that bind us to our old life. But as I have said the exercise of removal of those sins is seemingly incremental. God puts His finger on it, and we begin to see what damage it does to ourselves and to others and then seek His mercy in removing it from our lives. As it goes “I can open the prison gate but, you must walk through it.” This is not to say some things God does not carry us through, because in His mercy he does. But generally we must walk in that freedom on our own.
All this I have said to say that we live in His grace. As Paul said nothing can separate us from God’s love that means even ourselves. We have the grace of God working on our behalf. We are his chosen people and He predestined us all to live in eternity with Him. Therefore, if you do as I did and walk away from God. Turning your back on Him as I did because I was unhappy with my choices and His unwillingness to prevent me from making them. He does not leave you. Rather, He walks with you and draws you back to Him. For me that took 15 years. For you it might take less or more time it does not matter. Nothing you can do can separate you from the Love of God in Christ Jesus. The debt has been paid. Your sins are forgiven. In the past, present, and future. The ledger reads paid in full. So, the question is “what are you going to do with that freedom?”
I encourage you to return to Him. If you have left know that you are still forgiven. Although, you walked away He never left your side. You are still his child. Just as the prodigal son did not cease to be his father's son when he took his inheritance and went out into the world and wasted it. But instead, when he returned his father rushed out to meet him in the field to welcome him home. The Father is rushing after you to bring you back home. You are still his chosen. You are still his heir. That has not changed. He still longs to bring you back under his protection. The world has been stripping you of your robes of righteousness. Ruining your peace, joy, and the feeling of forgiveness. However, you need only to turn back to Him and he will restore all these things to you. Not only that He will use what you have experienced to advance His kingdom. You are not the first or last that has been lured away from your inheritance. Thanks be to God that does not mean your inheritance with Christ Jesus cannot be taken away.
If you have not yet given your life to Jesus, I encourage you to do so now. He is drawing you to His forgiveness with the Power of His Holy Spirit. Know that your sins can be forgiven, and you can be set free from the power they wield over you. If you have walked away, I encourage you to return now. Listen to the Holy Spirit speaking forgiveness to your heart. Your Father is waiting with open arms to welcome you back to your place in Him. Pray this prayer with me now. Say it aloud “Jesus, I confess you are Lord, I believe you came to the earth, died on a cross, were buried in the tomb, and rose from the grave three days later. I confess to you I am a sinner and I ask you for your forgiveness. I pray that you would fill me with your Holy Spirit and lead me in the path that you have set out for me. In Jesus name, Amen.” If you prayed that prayer, I encourage you to contact us. We would love to stand beside you and encourage you in your new journey of faith. I also encourage you to find a church to attend. Maybe God is putting a name in your head right now of someone you should go to for help in your newfound faith. I cannot stress enough that we have been where you are and cannot wait to help hold you up in your walk with Him.
Thank you for joining me today as we explored God’s word together. I consider it a privilege to study it with you and provide a little insight into What the Word is Saying today!
